Illegal Dentists In Ontario

Rehan Khalil is a lawyer in Mississauga, Brampton and Ontario.

A Toronto Star investigation exposes illegal unlicensed dentists who are performing dental work in their basements for rock bottom prices.

This investigation causes major concerns but is also nothing new. For years, low income families and immigrants have been using such services because they are unable to afford the high cost of dental care.

The investigation can be found here:

What Happens At The Consultation?

When you first call my office you will speak with me directly. That means no secretaries or middlemen.

Normally, I will request you attend my office for an initial consultation. All personal injury consultations are free. For any other matters I charge a nominal fee for the consultation. The consultation typically ranges from $50.00 to $75.00 and it depends on the case.

Many people ask why they should pay for a consultation. The consultation provides you with one hour with me. I review any documents related to your matter and provide you with options. The consultation is for me to learn more about the issues and to decide whether you have a case.

There is no obligation on you as the client to hire me. Nor is there an obligation that I take your case. I find many clients are happy and relieved after the consultation. On some occasions clients realize their matter is not as problematic as they thought. For others, they get a better understanding about court procedures.

The consultation is an opportunity for us to meet face to face and decide whether we would like to work with each other. Finally, after the consultation I am in a better position to provide you with an accurate estimate of how much the matter will cost.

If you would like to schedule a consultation call my office today.

Uninsured Drivers Cost You Money

An interesting article appeared in the weekend edition of The Toronto Star, discussing the issue of Ontario drivers without insurance.

The article was reluctant in providing estimates on how many people in Ontario are operating vehicles without insurance. However, they did state:

…there are nearly 14 million roadworthy private passenger vehicles (cars, pickup trucks, vans, SUVs, dune buggies and motor homes) registered in the ministry's database. Roughly 6.5 million of them have insurance. The rest do not and it is unclear how many of the cars without insurance are on the road.

Driving without insurance is illegal. Many uninsured motorists are involved in accidents each year leaving the injured party scrambling to find compensation.

Insurance is mandatory under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act. Law enforcement officials and insurance companies argue that currently there is no accurate method to verify insurance. For example, when renewing plates drivers are simply required to provide the name of the insurance, policy number and nothing more. The Ministry does not confirm the validity of the insurance policy.

Another major concern highlighted by the article is that law abiding citizens who have insurance end up picking up the tab for uninsured motorists.

Don`t get caught driving without insurance. If you have been involved in an accident with an uninsured motorist call Rehan Khalil today.

Legal Disputes

Yesterday`s Toronto Star reported that one in three people in Ontario are fighting legal problems.

The article also highlights the emotional, financial toll that it takes on people.

Being involved in a legal dispute is never fun. The Toronto Star reported that the cost of a three day trial can cost upwards of $60,000.

Thankfully, many cases resolve prior to trial. However, the cost consequences are a stark reminder that the legal system is still built for those who have money. In fact, the Star reported that many people feel the justice system benefits the rich.

This past January Small Claims Court increased its limits. Originally, any disputes that were $10,000 and under were taken to Small Claims Court. Now, it has changed to $24,000. This helps, since the average cost of hiring a lawyer for a Small Claims Court matter is considerably cheaper.

When you are involved in a legal dispute ensure you hire a lawyer that will be practical in his or her solutions and someone who will have your best interests in mind.
